"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."-John 13:35
Love is best seen as devotion and action, not an emotion, Love is not exclusively based on how we feel. Love is one of the attributes of God and an essential part of His nature.
Because God loves us, He shows us how to love Him, He shapes how we love ourselves, He enlarges our love for others, so we can extend love for our enemies. If we find it difficult to love ourselves through imperfections, then we will find it difficult to love others through their imperfections. No matter what the situation or the challenging times we might be facing, we can choose to focus on what God says. He reminds us that, "Love covers a multitude of sins."
God’s love is perfect, faithful, unconditional, forgiving, sacrificial, strong, enduring, refreshing, redeeming, everlasting, gracious, and so much more! It’s never based on us, our abilities, or striving to ever be good enough. It’s found in Him, His character. It knows no boundaries and has no limits. There’s no place too deep that His love can’t reach us still.
As you continue to strengthen your vertical love relationship with God, I encourage you to strengthen the horizontal love relationships around you.
