Be Steadfast: Fix Your Focus
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor is not in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:58
In this text, we see Paul was reminding the church to be steadfast, firm, unchanging and determined to never lose sight of their faith, their relationship with God, and what God has called them to do. As we move forward, in this present day, this text continues to speak clearly to us individually and collectively.
Too often we become complacent and/or lose focus on what is truly important. We forget why we do what we do and Who we do it for. It becomes so easy to forget about the work of the Lord, the purpose, and our assignment. We tend to focus on what's minor instead of what is major; which is Jesus Christ!
If we are honest, when we are steadfast, unmovable, unchanging, and firm, it is because there is a passion. Nothing and no one can shake us from what we desire and love. God wants us to have a renewed passion in Him and for his people and what we do unto Him.
Never underestimate the power of passion. We need passion for God and people to survive the brutality and cruelty in the world. We are called to love God and love people.
If you feel like you have lost your passion, consider these four tips to help restore it:
1. Recognition: recognize and that you lost your passion
2. Realign your schedule: create space to feed your passion
3, Nourish your Soul: You are what you eat! As you take part in the daily bread, also through worship and prayer, your passion is renewed and strengthened
4. Share your faith: share your passion with others!
