"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." Colossians 3:12
We are compelled to come, and commanded to GO and be driven by compassion when going forth with the great commission. We are to show people love and acceptance through Jesus Christ. God's compassion is demonstrated in His Son's ministry for and among His people.
We see in scripture that compassion is rooted in love. Jesus had a genuine care for people. Someone who knew no sin became sin for us and died on a cross so that we can have life eternal with God.
When we are driven by compassion, we become selfless, and put the needs of others before our own. We become genuinely concerned about the well-being of others which then leads us to advancing the Kingdom of God; by loving God and loving people.
I challenge you to be driven by compassion this week; in your homes, on your job, with your children, in your marriage, or even in transit. People may not always remember what you say, but they do remember how you made them feel. Compassion is the route of our foundation and platform to extend God's love which we have received through Jesus Christ to share with others.
