True North: The Power of God's Word
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
All scripture is inspiration given by God. It is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work.
It contains the mind of God and His will for each one of our lives. There is power in God's word. It is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb 4:12). Knowing God's word makes things more personal and intimate between us and Him. This is the difference between religion and relationship. When we are in God's word, it has the power to keep us from sinning (thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11).
His word also transforms us and leads us to obedience. The word of God keeps us in times of trials (Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105), and leads us in the path to eternal life.
God desires our heart. He created us for relationship and the only way to know Him is to know His word. So, I encourage you to continue to read God's word and know Him deeper. It has the power to give you strength in times of weakness, peace in times of sorrow, and direction in times of uncertainty.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever -Isaiah 40:8
