"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall"-Proverbs 16:18
We all struggle with pride and unfortunately society encourages and enables it. Pride happens when we become over confident and take our eyes off the cross and putting the focus on ourselves. Minister Adrian reminded us that to continue this journey and walk with God, we need to be quick to repent. Recognize your sin, and the significant impact it has or can cause; but recognize that our God is greater!
There is so much in store and potential that waits for us if we only let go of our pride and move towards God's plan for our lives. Never hide your sin. This not only makes Christianity look unattainable for new believers, but also denies the power of the cross and sets us up for continuous failures.
Instead, acknowledge your sin and repent. We can look at David as one of the greatest examples. Sin allowed him to run to God and not from God. I would say it drew him closer because He recognized that he is only man and God is Sovereign. He acknowledged that in his own strength, he could do nothing.
Pride has kept many people from continuing their walk with Christ. Let us not see ourselves as 'wise in our own eyes", but let us become humble and willing to depend on God and learn from others. Don't allow pride to cripple you on your journey. Scripture tells us to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
Keep walking with God!
