It's The Dawn of a New Era

It's the dawn of a new era in the Region of Peel - the launch of Kingdom House Christian Centre. This unique house of worship is blazing new paths to transform, not only the lives of its members, but also the lives of those in the surrounding community. Sunday November 5, 2006 marked the official opening of Kingdom House Christian Centre in Mississauga, where over 200 attendees were challenged by the dynamic message to "do something to make a difference" in their community.

"We're a church for the community," says Pastors Rob and Tania Meikle. "Kingdom House is about developing leaders, not only in the church, but in the community." Kingdom House seeks to help members realize their divine destiny by utilizing their skills, voices and God-given talents to affect change. Located at Mississauga Secondary School (McLaughlin Road/Courtney Park Drive), the Sunday celebration services are geared to "transforming lives and fulfilling destinies". As their Mission states, Kingdom House has been launched "To impact and transform lives through relevant worship, prayer and the Word of God; and to love, serve and affect change in our local multicultural community with a global reach."

The decision to launch Kingdom House Christian Centre was not made overnight. It was a process that took 20 years and the support of a highly motivated team of leaders, who shared the same vision for transforming lives and making a difference. In starting this new church, Pastors Rob and Tania were responding to a call from God on their lives. "In 1986, we knew we were called into ministry for God," says Pastor Rob. In the years that followed they were active leaders in the church community. Then, about a year ago, "God began to speak very clearly to us that the time is now. Through a series of events and reaffirmations, it became very visible and very obvious that it was something we had to do," says Pastor Rob. One of those events was a chance reunion with an individual who had attended a community drop-in where the Meikle's were volunteers. This individual expressed to them about how much their guidance had impacted his life. Not only had they helped encourage him with his daily life issues, they had also provided an open forum to dialogue with him about God. He told them that this kind of spiritual and real-life guidance was what people need today. "Something then ignited in my spirit," says Pastor Rob. "God reminded me that we care for people." Essentially, they had provided a safe environment for the people to come together in recreation, education and spiritual development. That care for the spiritual needs of others is what drives them says Pastor Rob, "We have a burning passion in our hearts to respond to that need."

With a devoted team of leaders, Kingdom House strives to create that same type of safe environment that provides an open forum to hear the truth about God. However, they are aware that the challenge is to share God's message in a significant way. "The church needs to be relevant and practical," says Pastor Tania. "We must find relevant ways to communicate with our community by using various means to ensure that the life changing message of God's love reaches each and every person in the Greater Peel-Halton Region." To achieve this, Kingdom house is a church committed to utilizing the dramatic arts, dynamic presentation styles and current technology to present God's message to this multicultural community.

This past municipal election provided a perfect opportunity for Kingdom House to connect with the community. At a November service, the congregation was introduced to several candidates running for election in Brampton and Mississauga ridings. The members had an opportunity to meet and speak to the candidates and were encouraged to participate in the election process by voting. Members were also encouraged to support community businesses and to become pro-active in responding to the needs of the community. Pastors Rob and Tania are determined to see that Kingdom House members become successful in all areas of their lives: spiritually, personally, socially, and financially. "When we see people advancing, that's exciting for us," says Pastor Rob. "We want to see the entire church body doing well." For example they would like to see all members be debt free. Once that happens, then members will have the resources to respond to the needs of God by helping those who are not as fortunate. Kingdom House has already begun to make its mark in the community by its presence as a faith-filled church that responds to the realities of today. By challenging its members to "do something to make a difference", Pastor's Rob, Tania and Kingdom House ministry are well on their way to making a difference in the lives of their members and the community.
